Noor Fares is renowned for her contemporary fine jewellery designs, which carry deep spiritual meanings. Noor sat down with us to talk about her inspiration and love for India, her wellness journey, and share her favourite places to shop, eat and soak up culture in Jaipur.

What is your earliest, most vivid memory of falling in love with design?
I grew up around strong creative women, my mother, grandmother and aunt. I remember spending hours in my aunt’s atelier playing with leftover fabric, making wigs, dolls and dresses with a sewing machine. This was the beginning of my journey with design. I used to draw dresses all day long. I had a vivid imagination and loved drawing colourful outfits.
India holds a special place in your heart. What about its rich culture and vibrant crafts inspires you most? And what are your top must-see spots in Jaipur?

India is a great source of inspiration for me. I am fascinated by its culture, spirituality and aesthetics. I am drawn to its traditions in jewellery crafts, from stone carving to enamel. Working with artisans in Jaipur has allowed me to explore so many different possibilities in my designs. I also love the Vedic traditions of gemstone healing, which I translate in my pieces. I am sharing below my full Jaipur list but some of my all time faves are: The Johri hotel’s delicious vegetarian restaurant, the City Palace (the mirrored room looks like a piece of jewellery), the Rambagh Palace hotel for afternoon tea, and Gem Palace boutique, which is literally a treasure trove of hand-carved stones and jewellery.

Your jewellery designs are infused with spiritual meaning. Where do you draw your inspiration, and which gemstones captivate you now?
I constantly draw inspiration from symbols across cultures, from sacred geometry, and from the healing properties of gemstones. At the moment, I am working on an ongoing collaboration with the Muzo emerald mine, incorporating their stones in my designs. Emerald is a powerful healing stone representing the heart chakra and an important stone in Jyotish traditions.

The world of wellness and food—how do you incorporate this in your daily life?

Prioritising wellness and healthy eating is a daily practice. I aim to live my life mindfully, by keeping my home as zero-waste as possible, staying away from toxic materials in the kitchen and in my children’s play space. We shop for local, seasonal, organic ingredients and cook wholesome meals at home most days of the week.

During my fertility and pregnancy journey, I became interested in Ayurveda and have since applied some of its principles to my daily life. Daily movement such as yoga and pilates is not only good to maintain the body but also the mind. I live a very busy life and travel frequently so I can get out of balance sometimes but I try my best to keep my routine wherever I am.
Could you share any rituals that nurture your creativity?

My daily TM meditation practice sets the tone for the whole day.
What are some of your favourite Indian moments, and do you have any hidden gems you love to visit?

I recently went on a trip to Mumbai with an NGO called Tiny Miracles, which empowers women from vulnerable communities by teaching them skills and enabling them to work. I have been on many trips to India over the years, but this one specifically made a profound impact on me. I love to visit Jantar Mantar, an old astronomical observatory, every time I go to Jaipur.
Which piece from our shoot is your favorite and why?
