The LEA is a much loved shape with a beautifully realised bias-cut, meaning it flatters the figure whilst allowing the fabric to glide around the body, for fluid, easy movement.
Saloni explains “We wanted a silk satin dress that would feel vintage but modern and give you summer glamour.”
The LEA’s deep v-neck line combined with smocked detailing on the waist and long skirt makes it incredibly flattering for all different body shapes. It’s also a dress that both mothers and daughters wear, often buying a new colour or print for one-another.
Saloni continues “When Eugenie Niarchos started working on our Venyx capsule our friend Noor Fares loaned us her grandmother’s silk satin dress to study its intricate details and construction. The dress was really exquisite, with delicate white-on-white thread embroidery and a tie at the back. The simplicity and the glamour of that dress was so inspiring and was the starting point for the LEA.”
The LEA is replete with beautiful vintage details, like the high waist and tiny covered buttons down the front. The smocked shoulder and gently puffed sleeves are a unique signature of the dress. In its various iterations beautiful embroidered florals or all-over prints further enhance the LEA’s relevance for today.
Saloni adds “ My print team and I always have fun working through the placement or engineered print ideas for the LEA. We love receiving calls or emails from our customers to say how much they love a particular dress and talk about the special events and moments they wore it for. That is my favourite thing, it’s what drives us as a team!”
True to the Saloni spirit of dresses that can go anywhere and do anything, one only has to look at some of the women who have been spotted wearing it. Margherita Missoni pic-nicking; Irina Shayk strolling around town; Margaret Qualley and Lily James both sported it at press events and Karlie Kloss posted a photo wearing the LEA in the midst of a blossom filled avenue in Kyoto, Japan.
